Renee Engel Krosner Slone (Renee Krosner on FB). retired from her career in long term care management in 2015. She decided to pursue her artwork however it wasn’t until the pandemic hit that she really got into her unique artwork with her multi-media pet portraits and landscapes. She has taken her collages to another level of interest with the addition of other materials like found paper scraps and gouache paints. She continues to experiment and always surprise her fans (count me as one) with new twists on her masterpieces. The pandemic has turned Renee into a machine in kicking out her collages. I asked Renee to select her 10 favorite collages and tell me why.
This is my 1st pet portrait (2020) of Libby Libbinski Sahr my sister Laura’s dog. She retired to the Southwest. This pet portrait gave me the confidence to do many more.
This is of a bayou in Louisiana. One of my 2nd cousins took a photo that I really liked I’ve done a number of water lilies but this one with the reflection of the railing on the dock brings me a sense of peace.
I did this from a photo Susan Totten Peters (BC class of ‘68) posted on FB. It’s a scene near Stonewell on New Scotland Road and reminds me of Slingerlands and many scenes in the Town of Bethlehem.
I did this from a photo Richard Many posted from their visit to Bok Towers Botanical Garden near Ocala FL. I loved the scene which reminded me of my many years living near St Petersburg.
Here is another Florida scene. I saw this on FB, and I am drawn to reflections. This was a huge challenge, especially the man on the paddle board
I did this for my brother Thom who spends countless hours volunteering at Thacher Park. He sent the photo that I worked from. I’ve done a number of Fall scenes, but I consider this my best.
Another of my water lilies. I love the way this looks like a painting but it’s all little bits of paper.
I consider this my finest collage. A friend was at Yellowstone, and I loved the scene that she posted.
This is my latest collage. I haven’t lived in the Albany area since I moved to the southeast in 1984 but the brownstones have always been among my favorites
This is a portrait of my 2nd cousin’s granddaughter. She has amazing hair and super cute.
